Yemen LNG Company and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) have signed today a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in support of Yemen LNG’s Sustainable Fisheries Program in the coastal areas around Balhaf, Shabwa Governorate.

First Yemen LNG Cargo Arrives in Boston, USA

In the early hours of Tuesday, 23 February 2010, the LNG tanker, Maran Gas Coronis, made its way through the Boston Harbor in Massachusetts. This marks the safe arrival of the first Yemen LNG cargo to the Boston Harbor. Maran Gas Coronis carried around 142,500 cubic meters of LNG.

Buenos Aires, Argentina - The Minister of Oil and Minerals, Mr. Amir Salem Al-Aidarous, opened on Tuesday, 06 October 2009 the Yemen LNG booth at the 24th World Gas Conference; the most important global event for the gas industry being organized in Buenos Aires, between 5–9 October.

Yemen LNG confirms: Shrimp and fish mortality in the vicinity of Balhaf a natural phenomenon

Yemen LNG Company has been monitoring recent media articles that have raised concerns regarding shrimp and fish mortality in the vicinity of the Yemen LNG plant in Balhaf. The articles have also alleged that crude oil spills from local companies operating from the Yemen LNG site in Balhaf had killed many shrimp and fish and had adversely affected the local shrimp fishery in the Bir Ali region.

Two of Yemen LNG Tug Boats Arrive in Balhaf

In the presence of the Yemen LNG Board members, the Company celebrated on Monday, 20 April 2009 in Istanbul, Turkey, the launch and naming of two tug boats which will be used to tow LNG tankers towards the Jetty on the Balhaf Bay.

As construction of Jetty nears completion ... two loading arms installed

Marking the final stages of Jetty completion, two loading arms have been installed. The two-stage process comprised the installation of the risers/pedestal, which was completed on 21st of March 2009, and the installation of the loading arms, which is now in progress.

Yemen LNG Fleet of Chartered Vessels Completed and Ready

At the Mitsubishi Shipyard in Nagasaki, Japan, the enormous 294.6 meter vessel ’Seri Balqis‘ was officially launched. ‘Seri Balqis’ is the fourth and last LNG vessel chartered to Yemen LNG for the entire lifespan of the project.

Hydro-testing of Tank 1 successfully completed

Moving in wide steady strides towards the Ready For Start Up (RFSU) phase, Yemen LNG successfully completed the Hydro-testing of Tank 1 on February 8th 2009, 10 weeks after Tank 2 was successfully hydro-tested.

Gas Turbine Generator (GTG) 1 Online and Producing Power

In another win in the race with time, the first of the four Gas-Turbine Generators (GTGs) started producing electricity on Sunday, 25 January 2009. This is an important milestone as it paves the way for more equipment start up such as the boilers, desalination units and other important equipment.

3rd Yemen LNG Chartered Vessel, ‘Seri Balhaf’, Ready to Sail

H.E. Mr. Ameer Salem Al-Aidaroos, Minister of Oil and Minerals and a government delegation as well as Yemen LNG representatives attended on Monday, 15 December 2008, the official naming ceremony of another Yemen LNG chartered vessel at a special ceremony in Nagasaki, Japan. The vessel, named ‘Seri Balhaf’, is the third of four LNG vessels chartered to Yemen LNG for the entire lifespan of the project.

The momentum achieved by the introduction of gas into the Yemen LNG liquefaction plant at Balhaf on 19 November was coupled with yet another technical milestone represented by the successful completion of hydro-testing of first LNG tank on 30 November 2008.

Yemen LNG Supports A Computerised Reader Lab for Blinds at Sana’a University

“Today, we are witnessing a good example of reaching out to NGOs and we wish other companies would follow Yemen LNG’s example in providing useful and thoughtful support in the form of donations,” said Prof. Khaled Tamim, Rector of Sana’a University during the inauguration of the Computerised Reader Lab for Blind Students. “Next step would be to train all blind students at the University on the new equipment donated by Yemen LNG”, he concluded.

109 Technical Graduates Fulfill the Manpower Requirements to Operate the Yemen LNG Plant

“We experienced vivid memories of happiness, intensity and even exhaustion at times”. With these strong emotions a young Yemeni graduate described the two-year technical training scheme that trainees went through. The programme was designed to build the technical workforce required to operate the Company’s liquefaction plant in Balhaf. The graduation of this intake of 109 young Yemeni Technicians, Technical and Administrative Assistants and Fire Fighters marks the achievement of the basic technical manpower necessary for the commissioning and start up of the plant in 2009.

Sunday, 29 June 2008, Yemen LNG inaugurated the new Visitor Centre and Training Centre at its LNG plant in Balhaf, Shabwah, under the auspices of H.E. YEMEN LNG SIGNS US$2.8 BILLION FINANCING
