LNG project gives Yemen light at end of the pipeline - By Hugh Naylor for the UAE-based "The National"

BALHAF // It was a celebration of much pomp and circumstance, with ambassadors and government ministers flown to this remote coastal outpost in November to inaugurate Yemen’s crown jewel of foreign investment – the US$4 billion (Dh14.68bn) liquefied natural gas (LNG) facility.

Yemen LNG Celebrates First Gas Export

Yemen LNG celebrated on Saturday, 07 November 2009 the First Gas Export attended by H.E. President of Yemen, Mr. Ali Abdullah Saleh, Prime Minister, Ministers, members of the Parliament and Shura Council, ambassadors, governors, representatives of the shareholders, gas buyers and representatives of the Marib and Shabwah communities.

Yemen LNG Announces Start of Production of LNG from its Balhaf Terminal

15 October, Sana’a – Yemen LNG announces that on 15 October 2009 the Company started producing Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) from its liquefaction terminal in Balhaf, on the Gulf of Aden. Yemen LNG’s first cargo is scheduled in the few coming weeks.

Buenos Aires, Argentina - The Minister of Oil and Minerals, Mr. Amir Salem Al-Aidarous, opened on Tuesday, 06 October 2009 the Yemen LNG booth at the 24th World Gas Conference; the most important global event for the gas industry being organized in Buenos Aires, between 5–9 October.

Yemen LNG confirms: Shrimp and fish mortality in the vicinity of Balhaf a natural phenomenon

Yemen LNG Company has been monitoring recent media articles that have raised concerns regarding shrimp and fish mortality in the vicinity of the Yemen LNG plant in Balhaf. The articles have also alleged that crude oil spills from local companies operating from the Yemen LNG site in Balhaf had killed many shrimp and fish and had adversely affected the local shrimp fishery in the Bir Ali region.

Two of Yemen LNG Tug Boats Arrive in Balhaf

Marking another important step towards the preparation for the first LNG shipment, two of the four Yemen LNG tug boats arrived in Balhaf on Saturday, 27 June 2009.
