26 April 2008At the end of March, Mokhtar Alsaqqaf, one of Yemen LNG’s technical trainees, concluded his six-month training program on leadership and management skills at General Electric’s Oil and Gas University in Florence, Italy. The training focused on four major topics namely; leadership, energy, processes, and rotating machinery. Attempting to capture all his feelings about the course, Mokhtar said: “It has been an excellent experience not only to learn something new everyday but also to get the opportunity to interact with students from 26 companies from 19 countries. I am extremely grateful to the Yemen LNG Company,” Mokhtar gave a presentation on his experience at GE Oil and Gas University at the graduation ceremony. Mokhtar was awarded the opportunity to join the GE training program in Florence, Italy due to his high level of performance during Batch 1 training. Mokhtar had already finished his eighteen-month training at the Yemen LNG Training Center in Sana’a on LNG process Technology. He left on Saturday 19 April for Indonesia to round off his on-job training at the PT BADAK LNG plant in Indonesia. The intensive training programme which trainees go through in the country and abroad is part of Yemen LNG Company’s vigorous plan to build its Yemeni workforce to be ready for start up of operations later this year. It is also a major element of the Company’s commitment to Yemenisation, which is scheduled to reach 90% by the end of 2015.
