Yemen LNG co-sponsors a UNDP youth innovation initiative

Yemen LNG participated in the Innovation and Creativity Award ceremony that was organized by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) office in Yemen and supported by the governments of Japan and Korea. The event took place in Sana’a on 31 October to award 28 young entrepreneurs from around Yemen who successfully presented 16 innovative business ideas.

Yemen LNG is proud to be associated in this initiative as a partner and key sponsor with the UNDP. The Award grants the youth innovative business ideas with $ 20,000 for each project, and each project will receive additional technical implementation and support from UNDP to ensure successful implementation.

The winning business ideas aim to solve problems, and provide solutions that can make a difference in people’s lives. They range from energy, agriculture, food products, design, to web applications, and small businesses.

Speaking on behalf of Yemen LNG, Nashwan Jubari, CRSD Manager, highlighted the significant contributions made by Yemen LNG with regard to corporate social responsibility. “Yemen LNG attaches great importance to corporate social responsibility which is integral to its business and our involvement in this initiative as a main sponsor falls within this commitment,” he said.

“No doubt that the development of young people is key and fundamental to the development of any community, and so Yemen LNG gives considerable attention to the youth, especially in the governorates of Marib and Shabwa.”

Mr. Jubari emphasized that Yemen LNG aims to set high CSR benchmarks and standards for other companies within and outside Yemen.

Minister of Industry and Trade, Dr. Saad Addin Bin Taleb, extended his congratulations to the winners, noting that “Yemenis have long been known as innovative people, in their history and travels. They leave their country with innovative ideas and come back with other ideas, too.”

The event was attended by Ismail OuldCheickh Ahmed, UNDP Resident Representative, Minister of Industry and Trade Mr. Saad Al Deen Bin Talib, the Deputy Chief of Mission of the Japanese Embassy Mr. Katsumi Moriyasu, the Korean Ambassador Mr. Lee Young-ho, Yemen LNG Corporate Affairs Manager Mr. Jamal Al-Akwa’a, the private sector sponsors, and representatives of the media.
